Children and Chiropractic Care

Do Children Need Chiropractic Care?

Children and Chiropractic CarePeople of any age can benefit from chiropractic care. It can be especially important for children to receive regular care because their bodies are growing and changing so rapidly. During their development process a child’s body relies strongly on the central nervous system. When their spine becomes subluxated – misalignment of the spine creating nerve interference, it can create several health issues. Children are constantly running, falling, jumping and playing which can cause subluxations and they will likely be unnoticeable because they get right back up and continue to play with no pain. Chiropractic care can help to keep your child healthy by releasing those subluxations maximizing the communication from the brain to the tissues keeping their bodies functioning at their best. Subluxations of the spine create lots of tension on a child’s nervous system which has been known to create concentration and behavioral issues. Regular adjustments improve these conditions by taking pressure off the nerves.

Even newborns can benefit from chiropractic care! The birthing process can be very strenuous on their tiny bodies and has been known to cause subluxations, especially in the neck. Newborns should be checked for spinal subluxations to be sure that their bodies can grow and develop properly. Chiropractic care for newborns has also been known to help with colic and breastfeeding difficulties. Research done in 2012 regarding chiropractic care for newborns found that those who received adjustments no longer had an issue with colic or the crying was greatly reduced than those who did not receive treatment.

Regular adjustments can be an amazing and natural way to keep your child’s body healthy and able to grow and develop the way it is meant to. When their spine is free of subluxations their nervous system is functioning optimally allowing them to focus on just being a kid.
