Can Chiropractic Care Help With The Flu?

Chiropractic Care and the FluFlu season is annual, recurring and relentless. Although the flu season is ending, it is predicted that people will continue to become infected for another few months. The flu is a viral infection that affects the respiratory system and causes a variety of symptoms including fever, body aches, and nausea/vomiting. There are four different strains of the flu labeled as A, B, C, and D. We are exposed to toxins and pathogens all the time and a healthy immune system is a key factor in fighting the flu. A healthy immune system requires our nervous system to be functioning at its peak, so we can ‘fight off the flu.’

Your nervous system is in direct contact with your immune system which monitors and regulates its activity. When your spine misaligned, there is a subluxation, causing some dysfunction to your immune system. Essentially your nervous system isn’t regulating and maintaining the tissues the way it’s supposed to and therefore causing your immune system to be depleted. After a chiropractic adjustment is performed, the subluxation is removed thus releasing the nerve interference which restores and maintains the proper function of the immune system. A healthy and functional nervous system that is free from interference and a healthy immune system are some of the most important factors for wellness.

Avoiding the flu requires a comprehensive approach and we are responsible for taking charge and determining our own wellness. This means getting proper exercise, eliminating stress, proper diet, drinking plenty of water, getting proper rest and receiving chiropractic care. In doing all these things we have a much better chance at avoiding the flu and we can live a much healthier life overall.
